We are over in Garhbeta, in the Midnapur West district. Our office is combined with the post office area, so we are right in the middle of where everything happens in the village. It’s a very local vibe here. We named the place Lecturee, and it’s just a small room where we’ve set up our workspace. The floors are concrete and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain out. In this part of West Bengal, the monsoon can be really something, so we’re glad for a solid roof. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything like that. We just wanted a place where we could work on our own terms. Usually, there’s a dog that sleeps right outside our door, and we have to be careful not to trip over him when we come in. We spend our days mostly on the computer or talking to people who drop by for a chat. It’s not the kind of place where you need to wear a suit. Most days I’m just in a t-shirt and slippers. We have a small kettle in the corner for making tea, which is probably the most used thing in the whole office. We’ve been part of this community for a long time, and we don't plan on going anywhere else. It’s a simple life, but we like the people and the pace of things in Garhbeta.
