We are located at 56, Laxmi Narayan Road, right in the Dum Dum Cant area. Being this close to the cantonment and the airport means there is always some kind of noise, whether it is a plane overhead or the general bustle of the Kolkata streets. This Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd. office has been a fixture here for a bit. It’s a simple ground-floor setup that makes it easy to move things in and out. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s a functional space where we get the real work done. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with the transport guys. In this part of town, you have to be careful with the timing because of the narrow roads and the traffic restrictions. Our team is small, just a few people who have lived in this part of North Kolkata most of their lives. We don't do much in terms of self-promotion; we just handle the accounts and the stock levels for the surrounding areas. The rainy season is always a bit of a challenge here because the road gets muddy, but we manage to keep things going. We usually shut down by six, unless there is a late shipment we need to account for. It’s a plain, honest workspace where we just focus on doing the job right and going home. It gets the job done without any fuss.
