Singh Trading Corporation has been based at 9 Gouri Shankar Ghosal Lane for years. It’s one of those narrow lanes that has a lot of character and history. We like it here because it feels tucked away from the main madness of the city, even though we’re still right in the middle of things. Our office at number 9 is a small, functional space. We deal with a lot of different goods, so there’s usually some stock coming in or going out at various times of the week. It isn’t always the neatest place, as trading involves a lot of boxes and ledgers, but we know where everything is. We don't go in for fancy branding or expensive furniture. A couple of solid desks and a good filing system are all we really need to keep the business running. Most of our days are spent talking to suppliers or checking on deliveries. It’s a lot of back-and-forth, but we’ve been doing it so long it just feels natural now. Gouri Shankar Ghosal Lane is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business, which has its charms. We like being part of that community. We aren't looking to expand into some massive skyscraper; we’re perfectly content right here in our lane. It’s an honest way to make a living, and we take pride in showing up and getting the job done without any extra fluff or nonsense.
