Lafarge India Private Limited

Working out of 32 Ezra Street in Kolkata is an experience. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets. We are on the 4th floor, Room 411/A. The building is one of those old ones where the stairs are narrow and the lift is sometimes temperamental. We’ve learned to just take the stairs if we’re in a hurry. Being in the heart of the business district means there’s always something happening. There are vendors everywhere and the smell of street food is always in the air. Inside the office, it’s a bit quieter, but you can still hear the shouting from the street below. We’re part of Lafarge India Private Limited, and this room is our little corner of the world. It’s packed with files, a few computers, and some very old cupboards that have seen better days. We don’t really care much for decorations. We just need enough light and a working fan to get through the day. Sometimes we have tea delivered in those small clay cups while we go over the numbers. It’s a lot of manual work and checking and re-checking things. Ezra Street has a long history and we’ve just been here a long time. It’s dusty and loud, but it’s where we do our business every single day without fail.
