Kolkata Study Circle Foundation

Kolkata Study Circle Foundation is based in New Town, specifically at the Astaja Co-operative. It is a bit of a long address, C/O Subrata Sankar Bagchi at 4B, Aa-Iib/862. This part of the city is much newer and has a different feel than the old neighborhoods. We use this space as a center for our activities. It is basically a quiet room where people can get things done. We aren't a big institution. We are just a group of people who think having a space for learning and discussion is important. The co-operative building is nice and quiet, which helps people focus. We don't have a lot of staff. Most of us help out in our spare time. We keep the books on shelves that we put up ourselves. It isn't a professional library, but it has what people need. We don't spend money on advertising or trying to get famous. We would rather just provide a good place for people in the area to come and study or talk about ideas. The tea is usually hot and there is always a chair available if you need one. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just our little corner of it here in New Town. It is simple work, and we like it that way. We don't need things to be complicated.
