Kokoro Welfare Federation

We are located on the ground floor of the Swapna Neer-3 building on Taramoni Ghat Road. Our flat is G2. It is a typical residential neighborhood in Kolkata, so it is always full of people and noise. Being on the ground floor makes it easy for folks to just stop by without having to use the stairs. We have a small sign near the building entrance so people don't get lost. Inside, the space is very basic. We have some old filing cabinets and a couple of desks pushed against the walls. It is not a huge place, but it works fine for the welfare tasks we handle. Sometimes you can hear the kids playing in the street outside, but we have gotten used to it. We have been here for a while now, getting to know the residents in the 700041 area. Our work involves a lot of coordinating between different people in the community. It is not the sort of place that has a fancy reception area or a waiting room. You just walk through the door and one of us will be there. We drink a lot of tea while we go over our schedules and notes. The walls are a bit plain, but we have some posters up for local events. It feels like a real part of the community. We are just regular people working out of a regular apartment. It’s honest and simple work for everyone.
