Klxn Foundation

Our place is on the third floor over at 112 C.P.T. Colony. It’s right on Taratala Road, so you can imagine the noise from the trucks and the traffic all day long. Klxn Foundation has been operating from this spot for a bit. The stairs are a little steep, so by the time you get to the top, you’re usually a bit out of breath. The office has a lot of windows, but they mostly look out over the industrial parts of Kolkata. We’ve got a couple of old desks and some chairs that don't quite match, but they work fine for what we need. It’s mostly about getting the work done rather than how the place looks. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just sorting through things that come in. The tea stall downstairs is where we get most of our drinks, and the guy there knows our order by heart now. Being in Taratala means we are right in the thick of things, which is good but also pretty tiring. We aren’t some big institution with a lot of money; we’re just people trying to manage this foundation. Some days are slow and we just sit around, while other days are a complete mess of things to do. It’s just how it is running a small foundation in this part of town.
