Kenilworth Kolkata

We have been here at 1 & 2 Little Russel Street for a long time now. Kolkata is a busy place, and Midleton Row is usually full of cars and people moving around from early morning until late at night. Most days start with us checking the lobby and making sure everything is in place for whoever might walk through the door. It gets quite humid here, especially in the summer months, so we spend a lot of time keeping the air conditioning running right. There is always something to fix, whether it is a leaky pipe or a light bulb that gave out. We see a lot of different people coming through. Some are here for work and others just seem to be passing by on their way to somewhere else. We try to keep things simple and quiet inside, even when the street outside is noisy with horns and people shouting. It’s just how things are in this part of town. The staff knows the area well, and we usually tell people where the best tea is nearby. We don't do anything too fancy, just the basic stuff you'd expect from a place that has been around for years. Sometimes the traffic on Little Russel St makes it hard for cars to pull up, but we manage to get by. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the rooms are clean and the water is hot. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we do here in Kolkata.
