Our office is over in the White Tower on College Street, right in the middle of all the bookshops and students. If you’ve ever been to Bowbazar, you know it’s a crowded area, but we’re up on the fifth floor so it’s a bit away from the main noise. Jeevni Consultants Llp has been operating out of this spot for some time. We’ve got a view of the rooftops if you lean out the window enough. College Street has its own rhythm, and we’ve become part of it. The elevator in the building works most of the time, which is good since the fifth floor is a long walk up. We mostly spend our hours sitting at the desks, looking over documents and talking to whoever needs help. It’s a practical space. We don’t have any marble floors or anything flashy like that. Just regular chairs, some old cabinets, and plenty of tea. People find their way to us through word of mouth or by seeing the sign in the lobby. Kolkata can be a bit overwhelming in this part of the city, but inside the office, it’s just us doing the job. We don’t try to be something we aren’t. It’s just work, day in and day out. We try to keep things simple and avoid any unnecessary complications while we are here. Most of the staff has been together for years.
