Our shop is located in Chandannagar, specifically on the Memonpur Budge Budge Trunk Road in Maheshtala. It’s a busy stretch of road and we’ve been here for a good while. We deal with engineering and hydraulic equipment. It’s specific work and it’s usually pretty messy. Hydraulics always involve a lot of oil and seals that need replacing. We have a workshop where we take things apart and try to figure out why they stopped working. It’s a lot of trial and error sometimes. The humidity in Kolkata can be really tough on the machines and the people working on them. We don't have any air conditioning in the back, just some old fans that move the hot air around. We’ve got a group of mechanics who have been doing this for a long time. They don't need fancy manuals; they just know by the sound of a pump what’s wrong. We aren't big on corporate talk. We just tell people what needs fixing and how long it’ll take. Sometimes we’re waiting on parts to come down the trunk road, which can take a while with the traffic. We just do our best to get the equipment back to the owners so they can get back to work. It’s a practical, ordinary kind of place. We’re just here on the main road in Maheshtala, doing our job every day and trying to keep things running for everyone who stops by our door.
