M. N. Dastur & Co (P) Ltd has a small setup here on B. B. Chatterjee Road. We are in Flat No :2E at 316/A. Kolkata-42 is a busy part of town, as anyone who lives here can tell you. The office is just a regular flat turned into a workspace. It’s functional. We have our desks and our computers and a lot of tea. People know the name M. N. Dastur because we’ve been around the industry for a long time. This specific branch handles the local stuff. You climb the stairs, and we are right there. It’s not a glass building with a lobby. It’s more personal than that. You can hear the traffic from the road all day long. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but that is just Kolkata for you. We just get on with it. Most of us have been working here for years. We know the tea seller downstairs and the guy who delivers the mail. It feels more like a small community than a big company. We don’t do much fancy talking. We just look at the projects and do the math. It’s what we are trained for. If you need the office, just look for 316/A. The sign is small, so you might have to look twice. We usually have the windows open to catch a breeze when the weather is nice. We are just a group of people doing our work in the city we call home.
