You can find us at 18/12 Fern Road in Kolkata. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how narrow the lanes can get and how the old houses have a lot of character. We are right there in the middle of it. It’s Jai Balaji Shakti Cement Ltd, but the office itself feels more like a home that was turned into a workspace. Kolkata 700 019 is a busy postal zone. There’s a lot of foot traffic outside, and the sounds of trams and buses aren't too far away. We spend our days answering phones and making sure the cement orders are going where they need to go. It’s a lot of coordination. The stairs in our building are a bit steep, so we always tell people to watch their step. On rainy days, the water can pool up on Fern Road, making it a bit of a mess to get inside, but we’re used to it by now. The tea guy comes around twice a day with those small clay cups, which is probably the best part of the afternoon. We don’t have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a few rooms filled with desks, some old filing cabinets, and a lot of pens that never seem to work when you need them. We just work through the day and head home when the sun goes down.
