We've been at Virginia House on Jawaharlal Nehru Road for a long time now. It’s a busy spot in Kolkata, right in the middle of everything. People know the building because it has that old, solid look to it. We spend most of our time here just making sure the hotels are running okay. It’s not always easy, especially with the heavy traffic outside and the humidity in the summer. We have a lot of staff coming in and out at all hours. Most of us have lived and worked in this city for years. We don't really do the fancy speeches or anything like that. It is mostly about getting the rooms ready and making sure the food is decent for whoever is staying. You see the same faces every day at the tea stall nearby. Kolkata is a funny place like that, once you start working here, you sort of just stay. Our address is 37 Jawaharlal Nehru Road, and if you’ve ever walked down this way, you’ve probably seen our gate. It is a lot of paperwork and phone calls, honestly. Sometimes the elevators are slow, but we make do. We try to keep things simple. Dealing with guests is the main thing, and every day brings something different. Some days are quieter than others, but usually, it is just a lot of movement. We aren't trying to be something we aren't. We just work here and keep the business going.
