Mangoe Lane is one of those old streets where you can feel the history, and we’re right there at number 3. Our place is basically a big warehouse filled with all the bits and pieces mills need to keep running. It’s not the most organized-looking place if you’re just walking in, but we generally know where everything is tucked away. We’ve got shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, packed with crates and boxes. Some of the labels have faded over the years, but the stuff inside is still solid. The air in here is a mix of old wood and metal. We don't spend much time worrying about the decor or making the place look modern. It’s about having the right parts when a mill manager calls us up because something broke down. We’ve seen a lot of changes in the area, but the lane itself stays pretty much the same—crowded and busy. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for deliveries to arrive or go out to the customers. There’s no big corporate structure here, just a few of us making sure the inventory is right. We write things down in ledgers and try to keep up with the orders as they come. It's a lot of lifting and carrying, but it keeps us busy throughout the week. We like being part of this old neighborhood and just doing our part for the industry.
