Independence Transport & Shipping Agency

Our office is on the second floor of Plot No. 20 on Strand Road. It’s a very busy area because we are so close to the Custom House. If you look out the window, you can see the trucks lined up and people moving cargo back and forth all day long. Independence Transport & Shipping Agency has been here for quite some time, dealing with all the paperwork that comes with moving goods from one place to another. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with different departments and making sure all the stamps are in the right places. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep, and the building is old, but it suits us fine. We have a few desks, some filing cabinets that are overflowing, and always a pot of tea going. Shipping is a complicated business with a lot of delays and surprises, so we spend a lot of time on the phone trying to track things down. It’s not a glamorous job. It’s mostly about solving problems and making sure things don't get stuck at the docks for too long. We don't have a fancy logo or a big sign out front. People who need us usually know where to find us. We just try to get through the daily pile of documents and go home when the work is done. It is just the way things go down by the docks.
