The Metropolitan Co Op Housing Society is a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. We are at Plot No 175 on Canal South Road. This is where we do our bit for IBM India Pvt Ltd. It’s a cooperative society, so there’s a lot of families living around us. It makes the work day feel a bit more grounded than being in some sterile office park. We see kids playing outside sometimes and neighbors chatting by the gate. The building itself is okay, nothing special to look at, but it has enough space for our computers and the small server we keep. The 700105 area is quite central, so getting parts or supplies isn't too hard. We have a little routine where we start around nine and keep at it until the evening. The canal road can get a bit muddy when it pours, and we’ve had to clean our shoes a lot lately. We don't have fancy office chairs or glass walls. It’s just wooden tables and whatever we could fit in the rooms. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a bit of a clicking noise, but we’ve learned to ignore it. It’s a very normal, local place to work. We just focus on the tasks we’re given and try to stay out of the neighbors' way. It’s a quiet life here, even with the city noise. We get our work done and then just head home like everyone else.
