Howsneeds

Howsneeds is located at 164/A, Thakurbari Street in Maniktala, Serampore. It’s a bit of a walk from the station but it’s a nice area in the Hooghly district. The office is inside a residential-looking building, so it feels very much like a home. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy. Usually, there’s someone sitting at the main desk sorting through papers or talking to people from the neighborhood. We handle a lot of different things, and it can get a bit disorganized if we aren't careful. There’s a small courtyard where we sometimes sit during breaks. The pace of life in Serampore is a little slower than the city, which we don’t mind. We focus on getting things done without making a big fuss about it. We don't use a lot of corporate talk here. If someone needs something, they just come in and ask. We have a few files, a computer that works most of the time, and a lot of local knowledge. The walls are decorated with a few old calendars and photos. It’s a practical space. We don't try to be something we're not. We are just local people helping out other local people with their daily requirements. Sometimes the rain makes the street muddy, and we have to remind everyone to wipe their feet. It’s just a normal, everyday office.
