About Hand & Paws Animal Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Kolkata
Hand & Paws Animal Foundation is tucked away at 7/B, Panchanantala Lane. It’s a narrow lane, and if you aren’t looking closely, you might walk right past us. The building is older, with that specific character you only find in these tucked-away parts of the city. Because we work with animals, there is usually a bit of noise—barking or meowing—coming from somewhere inside. It’s not the quietest office in the world, but we wouldn't have it any other way. The floors are easy to clean, which is a necessity when you have paws running around all day. We have some basic medical supplies, a few cages, and plenty of bowls scattered around. It smells a bit like antiseptic and dog food most of the time. The staff here are usually wearing old clothes because there’s a good chance something will get spilled or stepped on. We don’t have a big budget for decorations, so the walls are mostly bare except for a few notes pinned up. People from the lane often stop by to tell us about a stray they saw or just to see how the current residents are doing. It’s a busy, messy, and very real place to work. We spend a lot of time cleaning up and making sure everyone is fed. It’s just what we do here on Panchanantala Lane every day. There isn't any fancy lobby, just a front door that opens right into the main room.
