Garib Pathshala Welfare Foundation

We’ve been here at 121/5/E/1Fmanicktala Main Road for a bit now. Most folks just call it the pathshala. It's not a big fancy place, just a few rooms where kids from the neighborhood come to study. Things get a bit loud when everyone shows up at once, but that's just how it is. We try to keep things simple. Books, pencils, some basic lessons. A lot of the kids around here don't have much at home, so we help out where we can. It’s mostly just us and some volunteers from nearby. Sometimes the roof leaks a bit when it rains hard in Kolkata, but we manage. We aren't doing anything world-changing, just making sure a few more kids can read and write properly. It started because we saw too many youngsters just hanging around the streets with nothing to do. Now, they have a place to sit down and focus. We don't have a big office or anything, just this spot on Manicktala Main Road. People stop by sometimes to drop off old notebooks or clothes. It’s all very local. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who live nearby and want to see these kids get a decent start. It’s hard work, and some days are better than others, but it keeps us busy. We mostly just spend our time tutoring and making sure there are enough snacks to go around. It’s a lot of sitting on the floor and going over math problems. We don’t have fancy computers, just old-fashioned chalkboards. It’s enough.
