Dharmohapatra Foundation

Our little spot is at 20/1/1A, Ballygunge Station Road. Being so close to the station means there is always noise and people rushing past. Dharmohapatra Foundation is right in the middle of all that chaos. We aren't a big corporation. We are just a few people who managed to get this space to try and do some good for the folks living around the tracks and the nearby lanes. It’s a small room, often cramped with boxes or old furniture, but it works for us. We spend our days dealing with the reality of city life. Sometimes that means helping someone get to a doctor or finding clothes for a family that lost everything. We don't have fancy brochures. Most of our news travels by word of mouth among the commuters and the local shopkeepers. It’s a bit dusty and the fan makes a loud clicking noise, but it’s our base. We like being near the station because that’s where the need is highest. You see all sorts of people every day. We try to be a calm spot in a busy area. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we run out of patience or tea, but we show up again the next morning. It’s just basic human stuff, really. No big promises, just being there. We’ve lived in Ballygunge for years, so this is our home ground. Helping out here feels right and keeps us grounded.
