We are located in Kolkata, but not in the crowded central parts. You can find us at Ramaballa Villa, which is an old-style building in the Tarapukur West area of Agrapara. It’s a very different vibe from a modern office. The ceilings are high, and the walls are thick, which helps a bit with the humidity of West Bengal. The walk from the Agrapara post office to our door takes you through some narrow streets that are always full of life. You’ll see people drying clothes on balconies and local shops selling sweets. Inside Ramaballa Villa, we have our desks set up in rooms that used to be part of a home. It makes the work feel a bit more personal. We don’t have a polished corporate look. There are stains on the floor and the paint is peeling in a few corners, but it’s a comfortable place to spend the day. We spend a lot of time on the phone or going through the local accounts. The sound of the ceiling fans is the background noise to everything we do. Sometimes the rain gets so loud on the roof that we have to stop talking for a minute. We like the history of the building and the fact that we’re tucked away in a real neighborhood. It feels honest to work in a place like this, surrounded by the daily life of the local people in Kolkata. It is just a regular day at work for us.
