You can find Cambridge Instruments & Engineering Co. up on the 4th floor of Yamuna Bhawan. We are at 55 Ezra Street. It's an old building, but it has character and we’ve been here for quite some time. Getting up to the 4th floor keeps us moving. Ezra Street is always packed, so there is always something happening outside the window. Inside, it's a different story. We deal with instruments and various engineering pieces. It’s precise work, so we try to keep the distractions down. The light in the morning is actually pretty good for working on small parts. We aren't the type to have a flashy reception area. It’s mostly just shelves full of equipment and workbenches. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we know the quirks of the old machines. We talk shop over tea most afternoons. It’s a small group of us here. We don't really do much advertising; most people find us because they know the street or someone told them about us. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs, which isn't too bad. We just stick to our tasks and try to make sure every instrument that leaves here is sorted. It's a steady life in a busy part of town. We like the history of the place and the work we do.
