Cambridge Instruments & Engg. Co. is located at 5, Shiv Thakur Lane. It’s a narrow street, so getting a truck in here can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The building is old, and it has that specific smell of grease and dust that you only find in engineering shops. We work on various types of instruments and mechanical parts. There is usually someone at the back bench with a magnifying glass or a wrench. We don’t have a website that gets updated or anything like that. Most of our work comes from people who just walk in or call us because their father used to do business with us. It’s a simple operation. We have a small office area with a couple of old filing cabinets that are stuffed to the brim. The light in here isn't the best, so we use a lot of desk lamps. We don't really do sales pitches. If we can fix something or provide a part, we say so. If we can't, we tell you that too. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten together. It’s a humble place, and we like it that way. No one wears a suit here. We just focus on the engineering bits and making sure the measurements are right before anything leaves the door.
