We are over in Bansdroni, tucked away on Bande Ali Pally Road. It’s a bit of a walk from the main Roynagar area, but it’s a good spot. The office is at Smt Jana Chakraborty’s place. It’s a homey environment, which is how we like it. The Aparajeeta Association Of Women For Human is basically a group of us who wanted to have a space for women in the community. It’s not a formal institution with a big lobby or anything. We usually sit in the front room and handle whatever comes our way. There’s a lot of talking and a lot of tea being made throughout the day. We deal with all sorts of local issues and try to be a support for the families around Pinebagan. The building is older, and you can hear the street noise from the window, but it feels like home. We don't have a big budget for advertising, so we just rely on people knowing who we are. It’s a bit messy sometimes with all the paperwork and the people coming in and out, but we manage to stay organized enough to get things done. We are just a bunch of local women trying to keep things going and help out where we can. It’s not always easy, but we’ve been doing it for a while now. We just take things as they come and try to be honest about our work.
