Our base is in Kolkata at 23 Circus Avenue, specifically in Flat 4A on the 4th floor. Being in the heart of Kolkata means it’s always busy outside. The building has an elevator, but it’s quite old and sometimes it’s faster to just walk up the four flights of stairs. The flat itself has been turned into a workspace with several tables and a lot of books stacked everywhere. Since it’s a residential building, we try to keep the noise down so we don’t bother the other tenants. We have a nice view of the street from the balcony, though it’s mostly just roofs and power lines. The kitchen in the flat is where we store our files and keep the water cooler. We don’t have any fancy office equipment, just the basics like a printer that jams occasionally and some laptops. It feels more like working from home than being in a corporate office, which we prefer. The 700017 area is very central, so it’s easy for us to get to other parts of the city when we need to. Most of our day is spent answering emails or organizing our materials for the next project. We don’t have a big sign on the door, just the flat number. It’s a cozy space and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood and the sounds of the city.
