Ambuja Cement Limited

We are tucked away in Niva Park, Phase 1, over in the Brahmapur area of Kolkata. Specifically, we are at Hig C-3 in Badamtala. It is a residential neighborhood mostly, so it feels a bit different than being in the city center. The streets are lined with houses, and there are always kids playing nearby. Our office is a simple place. We have got some old chairs and a big table where we do most of the planning for Ambuja Cement Limited. The humidity in Kolkata can be pretty brutal, especially in the monsoon season. Everything feels a little damp, and the paperwork gets soft in your hands. We spend a lot of time on the phone, talking to sites all over the city. Moving cement in Kolkata is a challenge because of the traffic and the narrow lanes in parts like Badamtala. You have to know the timing of the trucks or you will get stuck for hours. We have a small crew and we all know each other’s business. It is more like a family than a corporate office. We do not use any big words or have meetings that last for hours. We just see what needs to be done and we do it. Sometimes the neighbors come by to complain about a truck blocking the road, and we go out and move it. It is just part of being in this corner of the city. We keep things moving as best as we can.
