Amader Dinkal Foundation

We are located in village Kamalpur, which is under the Radhapur post office in the Shyampur area of Howrah. Specifically, we work out of house number 45, which belongs to Sambhu Santra. It’s a very rural setting compared to the big cities, and that’s just how we like it. The 711301 area is quiet, with a lot of green around the houses. We use a couple of rooms in the house for our daily activities. There is a lot of walking involved because the village paths aren't always great for cars. We see the same faces every day, and everyone knows where Sambhu’s house is. Inside, the furniture is mostly wooden and quite old. We have a big table where we spread out our papers and maps. The internet can be a bit slow out here, so we do a lot of things by hand or on the phone. During the monsoon, the rain is very loud on the roof, making it hard to hear each other talk sometimes. We don't have air conditioning, just the breeze from the windows and a couple of ceiling fans. It’s a very basic way of working, but it suits the local environment. We don't feel the need for a polished office when we are right here among the people we know. Most of our work happens right at this house or just outside in the village lanes.
