Yashwant Iron & Steel Works Ltd. is based at 1325/46-B, E, Shivaji Udyamnagar. This area has always been full of workshops and we are just one of many. We work with iron and steel, which is heavy and dirty work. The shop is filled with the smell of grease and burnt metal most days. We have a lot of equipment that has been here for years. It’s not the newest stuff, but it gets the job done if you know how to handle it. We have a few people who have worked here for decades. They are the ones who really keep the place running. We don't have a lot of structure here. We just know what needs to be done and we do it. Sometimes the floor is so covered in metal shavings that you have to be careful where you step. We don't have a big sign or a fancy lobby. Most people who come here are regular customers who have been using us for years. We make all kinds of iron and steel parts. It is a lot of lifting and moving heavy things around. By the end of the day, we are all pretty worn out. But it is good work. We just stay here in Shivaji Udyamnagar and keep our heads down. We are not interested in being the biggest or the most modern. We just want to keep the machines running and finish the orders.
