Manish Steel Centre

We are out at Plot No. 36/24 B in Gokul Shirgaon. It’s an industrial spot, so there are plenty of workshops and small factories all around us. Manish Steel Centre is basically just a big shed where we keep all the steel rods and heavy sheets. It gets pretty loud when we are moving the metal around with the crane or loading it onto trucks. There’s always a bit of a smell of oil and cut metal in the air, but that’s just how a steel yard is. We spend most of our time wearing heavy gloves and boots because everything is sharp or heavy. The office is just a small partitioned area in the corner where we keep the invoices and some old chairs. It’s not very fancy and it gets a bit cold in the winter months. We have a small stove to make tea on when we have a break. Most of our customers are locals from the area who need a few pieces of steel for their own small shops. We don’t really have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open up the gates in the morning and see what work needs to be done. Sometimes we get a big order that keeps us working late into the evening. It can be tiring work, but we like it well enough. We’ve been at this plot for a while and we know all the other business owners nearby. It’s a good community of working people who just want to get their jobs finished.
