Jai Maruti Brick Works

Out here in Vardenahalli, things tend to move at their own pace. We are located at 78-10, and if you haven’t been by the place before, it’s mostly just big stacks of bricks and the smell of the damp earth. Jai Maruti Brick Works is basically just a large yard where we spend the whole day working outdoors. The sun can get really hot in the afternoons, so we usually try to take a short break in the shade around then. We’ve got stacks of bricks everywhere you look. It is heavy, tiring work, and our hands are usually stained red or dark brown by the end of the shift. The trucks come in quite early, usually before the sun is even fully up over the trees. We load them up as fast as we can and send them off to wherever they are going. It’s a simple enough life. No one wears a suit or a tie at this place. We wear old boots that are usually covered in thick dirt. The address 78-10 is easy enough to find if you know this part of Vardenahalli, though some people still get a bit lost on the way in. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. There’s just a small wooden shed where we keep the paperwork and a small kettle for making tea. It gets the job done for us. We just keep making the bricks and keeping the piles tidy. Sometimes the weather stays dry and we get a lot done, but other times the rain slows everything down.
