Shalimar Mosaic Industries

Shalimar Mosaic Industries is based down in Manackachira, right along the A C Road in Changanacherry. If you drive past, you will see the piles of materials and the machines we use for making the mosaic pieces. It is a noisy place to work, to be honest. The sound of the cutters and the polishers goes on for most of the day. Being on the A C Road means there is always water and traffic around us, especially during the rainy season when the levels get high. We have been working with stone and cement here for quite a while now. My clothes are usually covered in a fine layer of grey dust by the time I head home in the evening. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. People just come by the gate and ask what we have in stock or if we can make a specific pattern for their floors. It is heavy, physical work, moving the tiles around and making sure the mixtures are just right so they don't crack later on. We see a lot of people from the local Changanacherry area who are building small houses or fixing up old ones. We just focus on the task at hand and try to keep the machines running smoothly. It is a simple life here at the yard, just making things that people walk on every day.
