Being up on the second floor of Vee Yem Towers means we get to see a lot of what happens down in Palarivattom. The stairs are a bit steep, so we usually take it slow in the mornings when we first arrive. There is an elevator, but it is often busy with people going to the other offices in the building. Our space is not huge, but it fits our desks and all the papers we have lying around for the day. We spend a lot of time on the phone here. Sometimes the traffic noise from the street makes it hard to hear clearly, but you get used to it after a week or two. Palarivattom is always moving and we are right in the middle of all that commotion. We keep a few maps on the wall, mostly because they look nice and they help us see where different places are located. The windows stay shut most of the day because of the dust from the road. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so the fan is always running at full speed. We drink a lot of tea while we look at schedules and forms. It is not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy from morning until night. People come in and out, asking about tickets or just checking prices on things. We do not have fancy furniture, just what we need.
