About Cochin Bakery – Industrial Plant & Machines in Kochi
You can find us at the Pariyath Building right by the Kumaranasan Junction. It’s on the Kaloor-Kadavanthara Road, which stays pretty busy most of the day with people going to work. We’ve been at Cochin Bakery for a long time now. Early mornings are the best time here because of the smells from the oven that fill up the whole street. We start baking way before the sun comes up. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and lifting heavy bags of flour and sugar. We have some regular customers who have been coming since they were kids. Now they bring their own children in to buy biscuits. The shop isn't huge, but we make it work for us. Sometimes it gets really crowded in the evenings when people are heading home and want something fresh to eat with their tea. We try to keep the shelves full all the time. We don’t really use fancy machines for everything we make. A lot of it is still done by hand because that’s how we learned from the older generation. It can get pretty hot near the ovens especially in the summer months. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the shifts. The floor is always a bit dusty with flour no matter how much we sweep it up. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in town. We just want to make good bread and hope people enjoy it. It’s a lot of work but it's what we know.
