This is Singhpur Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are a group of women from the Gauraiyakudur area who decided to get together to handle our farming business. You can find our main point of contact at Nepal Mahto’s place in the village. It isn't a big corporation or anything like that, just a way for us local women to organize ourselves better. Farming in Gauraiyakudur is hard work and usually, everyone is busy in their own fields, but having this company helps us stay connected. We deal with the day-to-day realities of seeds, soil, and whatever the weather decides to do to our crops. It’s a practical thing, really. We needed a way to manage our harvests and get things moved without having to go it alone every single time. Most of the time, we are just talking about the upcoming season or how the last one went. It’s simple and honest work. When you come around these parts, you see how much we rely on the land. We are not trying to be fancy. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields actually amounts to something for our families. It’s nice having a spot at Nepal Mahto’s where we can meet up and figure things out. Every day is different depending on the sun and the rain. We just take it as it comes. We are mostly focused on the practical side of getting crops grown and sold. It is not always easy but it is better when we do it together.
