Amarapara Farmers Producer Company Limited

Amarapara Farmers Producer Company Limited is just a small group of us farmers here in Pakur. We use Benjamin Marandi’s place as our home base. He and Johan Marandi have lived in this village for as long as anyone can remember. We started this because it felt like we were always struggling on our own. When you are just one farmer, it’s hard to get anyone to listen to you. Now that we are a company, it’s a bit different, but we are still the same people. We don’t wear suits or sit in air-conditioned rooms. Most of the time, our boots are covered in dirt. We grow what the land allows and try to find the best way to get it to the market. It’s a lot of trial and error. Some seasons we have plenty, and other times it’s a real struggle. We talk about irrigation and fertilizers more than anything else. Pakur is a quiet place, and we like that. We just want to make sure our small farms stay viable. It’s not about getting rich, it’s just about making a living and helping our neighbors when they need it. We don't have a big plan other than to keep farming and keep supporting each other in Amarapara. That is basically all there is to it. No more, no less. We just take it day by day and hope for good rain.
