Goaljan Refugee High School

Goaljan Refugee High School is found inside the Amrita Shopping Complex, which is part of the CRPF and CRP Lines in Bhubaneshwar. The postcode here is 751011. It’s a bit of a different setup since we are located within a shopping complex, but we’ve made the space work for a school. There are various shops downstairs and around us, so there’s always a lot of activity and people walking by. Our school serves the local community around the CRP area. We have several rooms that we’ve turned into classrooms for the older students. It’s not a fancy building with marble floors or anything like that. We have simple wooden desks and some old chalkboards. The staff here are just regular folks who have been teaching for a long time. We don’t really do any advertising. Most people find us just by walking past or hearing about us from their neighbors. It can get a bit noisy in the afternoons when the shops get busy, but we just close the doors and keep working. We handle our own paperwork and keep our own schedules. It’s a small operation, really. We just want to make sure the kids have a place to sit and learn their subjects. The 751011 area is quite specific, and we feel like a part of the local fabric here. We don't make big promises, we just show up every day and do the work that needs doing for our students.
