If you head down Bakrol Road in Vallabh Vidyanagar, you’ll find S D Desai High School. It’s a busy part of Anand, especially with all the students and faculty from the nearby university area moving around. Our school has a pretty good spot on the road, though it can get a bit noisy with the traffic in the afternoons. The building is a standard multi-story setup with a small area for parking cycles in the front. We’ve been here for many years, so the walls have a lot of stories to tell. The staff room is usually a hub of activity with teachers grading papers or having a quick tea between classes. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that; you just walk in and the classrooms are right there. The furniture is the basic wooden kind that’s been around for decades. We try to keep things running smoothly, but like any school, there’s always a door that won't close right or a light that needs replacing. It’s a very down-to-earth place. We know the parents and we know the kids. Most of our day is spent making sure everyone is in the right classroom at the right time. It’s a lot of routine and hard work, but it’s what we do here on Bakrol Road. We just keep the gates open and the lessons going. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day.
