We've been working here in Dhenkikote for a while now. Most of us grew up around Ghatagaon and know the soil pretty well. It’s a group of local farmers trying to figure out how to get our crops to market without losing everything to middlemen. Sometimes it's hard work, especially when the rains don't come on time, but we keep at it. We share tools and advice under the Tarini Farmers Producer Company Limited name. It’s not a fancy office or anything, just a spot where we meet up to talk about seeds and prices. Most days you'll find someone around the yard checking on the bags. We started this because doing things alone wasn't working out for anyone in the village. It's mostly about getting a fair price for the rice and vegetables we spend all season growing. Everyone knows everyone here. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Just a few of us handling the paperwork and making sure the trucks show up when they are supposed to. Life in Ghatagaon moves at its own pace. We try to help each other out with the harvest when someone falls behind. It's just how things are done in this part of the world. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just make life a bit more stable for the families living around Dhenkikote. It's simple work but it keeps us busy.
