Asurkhol Women Farmers Producer Company Limited

This company is run by women farmers from the Asurkhol area. We are based at Ramesh Chandra Mahanta’s place in Ghuntiposi, which is right near Balibandha in the Jhumpura region. We are a group of local women who have been farming for most of our lives. We eventually decided to form the Asurkhol Women Farmers Producer Company Limited to help each other out and get a bit more control over our daily work. In Ghuntiposi, we are known for being very hard workers. We handle every part of the process, from planting the first seeds to harvesting the final crops. It is not always easy being a farmer, and being a woman doing it in this area comes with its own set of challenges, but we manage just fine. We aren't interested in fancy titles or corporate meetings. We usually just gather at our contact point and talk about what needs to be done for the upcoming season. We use the company to get better access to tools and to find better markets for our produce. It is all very local and very down to earth. We don't have a big office or anything like that. If you come by Jhumpura, you will see us out in the fields most days of the week. We are proud of what we do, but we don't feel the need to shout about it. It is practical work for practical people. That is our group.
