Jamboo Farmers Producer Company Limited

Jamboo is where we are based, right in the Mahakalapada block. Our group is known as Jamboo Farmers Producer Company Limited. We use Plot No 149 for our business, which is cared for by Engrej Kumar Das over in Bhateni. It is a coastal kind of area, so we have to deal with some specific challenges that come with this part of Kendrapara. Most of us are just small-scale farmers trying to pool our resources together so we don't get pushed around. We deal with rice and whatever else grows well in this particular Orissa soil. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a practical place for us to gather and figure out who is selling what this week. We have been around this area for a long time. People know us by our real names, not just by the company title. When the harvest time comes, things get pretty hectic around Bhateni. We have to organize the trucks and make sure all the accounts are written down correctly. It is a lot of manual work and paperwork all mixed together. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on the fields and the crops. Sometimes the rain is way too much, and sometimes there is none at all, but that is just farming. Having this company helps us buy things in bulk which saves a few rupees here and there. (248 words)
