Karur Korai Producer Company Limited

Our little group is set up at No.79/46 on West Street in Kutchipalayampandamangalam. That name is a mouthful for anyone not from around here, but it’s home to us. We spend most of our time dealing with korai and the people who grow it. If you come by West Street, you will probably see some of the materials being moved around or people chatting near the entrance. We aren't some big corporation from the city. We are just local folks trying to make sure the work gets done right. The office is pretty basic, just some desks and chairs and plenty of ledgers. Sometimes the fans don't work as well as they should in the heat, but we get through the day. There is always someone coming in with a load of grass or looking for advice on prices. We don't have a lot of fancy gadgets. It’s mostly phone calls and face-to-face talk. Dealing with the weavers and the growers keeps us on our toes. You learn a lot about patience when you work this way. We like the pace of life here, even when it gets a bit hectic during the busy months. It’s just us doing what we’ve always done, right here in the neighborhood. We don’t make a big fuss about things, we just show up and do the job. It is simple work, but it matters to the families living on this side of town.
