St Sebastian Matriculation School

You can find us down on Villukuri Road in the Kulumaikadu area of Madathattuvilai. It’s a quiet spot for the most part. The school has been here for a good while, and most people in the village know where we are. We start the day early, usually before the sun gets too high and the heat starts to kick in. The building is simple, with plain walls and sturdy desks. We don't believe in making things look more complicated than they are. The kids come in from the surrounding houses, some walking and some on bicycles. We spend our mornings on the usual subjects and our afternoons grading papers or looking over the registers. Sometimes the goats from the nearby fields wander too close to the fence, which gives the children something to look at during break. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that; it’s just us teachers and the principal sitting in a small room. We try to keep things running smoothly, even if the rain occasionally leaks through a window or a desk needs a new nail. It’s just a local school where we do our best with what we have. People here are hard-working, and we try to reflect that in how we run things. There’s no need for big words when the work speaks for itself. We’re just part of the local scenery here in Madathattuvilai.
