Nehru Modern Higher Secondary School

Nehru Modern Higher Secondary School is located in Arasamoodu, right in the Kulasekharam area of Kanyakumari. It’s a busy part of town and the school is right in the middle of it. We have students from all around the 629161 region coming here. The building has been here for a long time. You can see the old walls and the big trees in the yard. It gets noisy when the bell rings and hundreds of kids head for the gates. We handle classes for the older students mostly. The teachers are locals who have lived in Kanyakumari their whole lives. We don't have air conditioning or anything fancy like that. It’s just desks, benches, and chalkboards. Every morning there is a bit of a rush at the entrance. The street outside can get crowded with cycles and buses. We just try to keep things organized so the day goes smoothly. There’s a lot of paperwork to do, as you can imagine with a higher secondary school. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place where teenagers come to finish their schooling. Some days are harder than others, especially when exams are coming up. The staff room is always a bit cluttered with books. We’ve seen many generations of families walk through these doors. It's just a part of the local scenery now and we plan to keep it that way for the foreseeable future.
