We’ve been here at Ratan Apartments for a good while now. Sales Tax Road is usually pretty busy, and that’s just how things are in Swaroop Nagar. If you walk up to our space, you’ll see it’s mostly just a bunch of desks and computers where people sit and work on their designs. It isn't anything fancy or like those big corporate offices you see in movies. We just have what we need to get the job done. Kanpur can get quite dusty, so we spend a lot of time just keeping the equipment clean. Most of the people who come here are just trying to learn how to make things look better on a screen or a piece of paper. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and talk until the backup kicks in. It’s a small group of us running things. We don't have a big receptionist or a lobby. Usually, one of us just opens the door when someone knocks. The rooms have a lot of light because of the big windows, which is nice when you're drawing. We have some old posters on the walls that have been there since we opened. People find us because they live nearby or they’ve heard from a friend. We just try to keep things simple and focus on the work. It’s a quiet spot once you get inside and away from the road noise. We like it here.
