Sreekandha Weaving Works

If you head down toward Alavil Post, you will find our place. Sreekandha Weaving Works has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. It’s a quiet area mostly, which is nice for focusing on the looms. We aren’t a big factory with hundreds of people. It’s more of a small setup where we handle the weaving ourselves. You can hear the rhythmic sound of the machines from the street. Some days the humidity makes the yarn a bit tricky to work with, but we’ve learned how to deal with that over the years. We keep the doors open to let the breeze in when it’s warm. Most of the people working here live just a short walk away. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy out front. Just a plain building where the work gets done. We handle local orders mostly. We get some visitors who are curious about how the cloth is actually made, and we don't mind showing them if we aren't too busy. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We don’t bother with much paperwork if we can help it. We’d rather be at the machines making sure the threads are straight. That is just how we do things here in Alavil. It is a simple life and it keeps us fed and occupied.
