We are a cooperative, so it’s not just one person running the show; it’s a group of us working together as a society. Our building is an older style structure, and you can hear the steady rhythm of the looms if you come by at the right time of day. We focus on the traditional ways of making cloth, which takes a lot of time and a great deal of patience. There are no fancy computers or high-tech systems here, just the skills that have been passed down from one weaver to the next. The post office is nearby, and we are quite well-known in the local neighborhood. Most of the people who work here live close by, so it feels more like a community or a big family than a standard factory. We spend our hours preparing the yarn and setting up the wooden frames for the day's work. It’s repetitive work, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing a finished piece of fabric finally come off the loom. We don't spend money on advertising or big signs out front. People know the quality of what the weavers here produce. The building stays relatively cool because of the way it was built, which is a blessing in the Kerala humidity.
