If you are staying near Hotel Surya in Mcleod Ganj, you’ve probably walked past our place once or twice. Rudrika Travels is tucked away in that area, and we’ve been operating from there for a good while. We mostly deal with car rentals and helping people figure out how to get to the airport or the train station in Pathankot. It’s a small office, nothing too special to look at, but it gets the job done for us. We have a desk, a couple of phones, and a big ledger where we write down all the bookings by hand. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three groups show up at once wanting to go to different places. The weather in Dharamshala can be unpredictable, so we spend a lot of time talking about rain and road closures with the drivers. We don’t use any fancy apps or high-tech systems. It’s all about knowing the drivers and making sure the cars are in decent shape for the hills. We’ve lived here long enough to know the best times to leave to avoid the traffic jams near the main square. People stop by to ask for directions or just to check the local bus timings. We don’t mind helping out. It’s just how things work in a small mountain town like this one. We aren't trying to be the biggest agency around, just a place that people can rely on when they need a ride to get across the valley.
