Our spot is down on Vpg Avenue Main Road, over in the Mettukuppam area of Thorapakkam. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially during the morning rush. We are at 3/508, which is easy enough to find if you’re looking for the right sign. The building is pretty standard for this part of Chennai. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of stock and a couple of desks for us to handle the paperwork. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking what’s come in on the latest delivery. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running at full speed. Sometimes the power flickers, but that’s just part of being here. We deal with various goods and keep a close eye on what’s moving and what isn't. The staff here are mostly locals who know the area well. We don’t put on any acts for customers; we just tell them what we have and what we don't. It’s a very practical way to run a business. We’ve got a small storage area in the back that’s always a bit cramped. Every day feels pretty similar to the last, but we like the routine. We focus on getting the small details right without making a big fuss about it. Just honest work in a busy part of the city. We open the shutters early and stay until the work is finally finished for the day.
