Inca Hammocks

Our place is situated at 142, Mambakkam Main Road, in Vengaivasal Village near Medavakkam. We have a small workshop where we make hammocks. It is a bit of a specialized thing to do, but we have been at it for a while now. We work with a lot of different types of rope, cotton, and hanging hardware. The workshop is often filled with rolls of fabric and big spools of string. It’s a very manual process, and we spend our days weaving and tying knots. It can be quite tiring for the hands after a few hours. The area here in Vengaivasal is a bit more relaxed than the middle of the city, which suits the kind of things we make. We don't have a big sign out front or anything like that. People who need us usually find us through word of mouth or by just stopping by the road. We don't have a fancy showroom; we just have the space where we work and store our finished pieces. Sometimes we have a lot of orders to get through, and other times it is a bit quieter. We just take it as it comes. It is a small team here, and we all know how to do a bit of everything. We aren't trying to be a big company, just a local shop making something useful. It feels good to see a finished hammock ready to be sent out.
