M P D Bricks

The yard is at 87 Baluchetty Chatram in Krishnapuram. It is a busy place, mostly because we have been here so long that everyone knows the turnoff. We make bricks, and honestly, it is a lot of hard, sweaty work. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. Usually, you’ll find us out in the dirt near the kilns. The sun gets really intense in this part of Krishnapuram, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done early in the morning before it gets too bad. Most of the guys working here are locals who have been with us for years. We just focus on getting the baking right so the bricks come out solid. Sometimes a batch doesn't go perfectly, and we have to sort through them by hand. It isn't a quick process. If you’re driving by, you can’t miss the big stacks of red bricks waiting for the trucks. We don’t do much in the way of paperwork or computers, just enough to keep track of who needs what. It’s a simple way of living, really. There is always dust in the air and the smell of the fire. We just keep our heads down and stay busy. If you need bricks, you just come by and talk to us. We don't have any big speeches. We just show you what we have and go from there. It’s worked for us this long.
